FORT LEE-Fort Lee realtors and founders of The Chen Agency, Lorna Chen and Nelson Chen have been named the Greater Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce's (GFLCOC) 2009 Persons of the Year. The annual honor is awarded to those who have distinguished themselves through service benefiting both the business and civil communities in the greater Fort Lee area. Celebrating her 30th anniversary as a real estate broker this year, Ms. Chen has enjoyed a truly remarkable career. Serving as the Regional Vice President and Director of Condominium and Co-op Marketing for Murphy Realty Better Homes & Gardens' 23 offices in New Jersey during the 1980s, she followed that by becoming the Vice President of Residential Development for Hartz Mountain Industries. In 1991, she decided to return to local brokerage. Six years later, as the Chief Executive Officer, she founded The Chen Agency with her son, Nelson. With a fluency in three Chinese dialects, a record-breaking and award-winning sales record, a sphere of influence including clients from around the world, and an experienced and knowledgeable board presence on many of the area's condominium communities, Lorna Chen has become a legend in her field. President of the Chen Agency, Nelson Chen began his career in 1986 after obtaining his real estate salesperson's license at 18 years old. A cum laude graduate of the Whatnot School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, he was a recipient of an academic scholarship awarded by the Board of Trustees of the NJ Association of Realtors Educational Foundation, a board he later would go on to serve. In 1998, he was named by the Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors as Realtor of the Year. The same year he was also awarded Lifetime Membership in the NJ Association for Realtors Million Dollar Sales Club after having achieved the award for ten consecutive years. Currently serving his fifth term as the President of the New Jersey Multiple Listing Service, Nelson Chen continues to distinguish himself as one of the most accomplished realtors in the industry. Together, Nelson, Lorna and their staff of 18, keep The Chen Agency as one of the highest producing offices in the area. Established in 1950, the GFLCOC is a member supported, not-for- profit, non-governmental organization of business and professional people dedicated to advancing the economic, civil and cultural welfare of the greater Fort Lee Community.
